I first tried to bake with my Gateway 832GM (http://reviews.cnet.com/Gateway_832GM/4505-3118_7-31397195.html) which has a single IDE cable

I then went to use a old computer (Windows 98), I set it up to boot from (CDRom, C , A) The new drive a 300 GB was jumped to master and connected to secondary Master. The CD was on primary slave, the connections was confirmed while booting, every thing else was disconnected

When it was all connected as stated above it would not boot up, it stopped at some kind of a system info screen listed drives again in this (you can see this info if it was booting into windows.) If I disconnected the power to the HD, the CD would boot.

The BIOS has boots with A, C, D, E, F, SCSI, CDrom, Zip, LS?

So, what might be stopping this from working on the Old computer?

Anyone want to give me a step by step on how to change the script, so it look for CD and HD on the primary IDE cable, so I can use my 832GM?

I don't have the other computer at my house.

In bios might there be a setting I did not change ( I changed allot , including defaults)
which would cause it not to boot into CDrom with a hardrive connected?

In bios I used the auto detach of drive and it would see a drive, it would just say 2, nothing like when I would reconnect the drive with windows on it. Is that cause that is a new drive (300GB)

As i said before it would go thru a system check of IDE connection it would find the CD on Pr slave and the HD :ST3300631A on Sec Master and go thru like normal. One thing I remember it would say the Floppy wasn't working, not in the same list as the IDE just down below by it self. Then it would go from there to a msg dialog box which stated the mode the drives was in, and stays. I left the CDrom jumped as it was, I figured since it was being seen on the right connection, and it boots the CD with the (future) TiVo drive out that was not an issue.?.?.?
