I got my S3 working just fine (ignoring the -4 errors), now I'm realizing that I'm getting tired of switching my audio seperate from the video at the TV, so I'm looking for a relatively cheap audio (6.1 or 7.1) and video switcher. I'm not a huge high-end person, I'm guessing that any with the features I want has the quality I need.

I'm looking for something which just has, say 4-6 inputs where each input can be any of
hdmi/component/s-video/composite/stereo audio whatever, so I can plug in a VCR or a TIVO or a DVD player or whatever, and has a hdmi output for video to the TV and then the 6.1 or 7.1 or whatever connections for the speakers directly.

Well, wanting one with HDMI in/out will take it to the high end area.
Do you want it to do the conversions?

I would consider looking at any number of AV receivers that can do what you want.

Oh, yea, optical input as well for audio (from sources which have component video + optical audio). ;-)

I guess since I'd like only one video output to the TV (so I don't need to video switch the tv sources), I'd need it to do things like up-convert the lower quality (composit/s-video) video to hdmi. I guess this is what's going to make it (a lot?) more expensive? Just wondering if it's worth it. ;-)
