I have an unmodded HR10-250 I got as a replacement a month ago from D for my old box that stopped working (frequent reboots). It has never made a successful call. I keep getting the "Failed while loading series" error. Test calls work just fine. The daily call is a lengthy one (almost an hour) so it's kind of a pain to try something then repeat the process to see if it is fixed. All my other Tivo boxes dial out on teh same phone line and have no trouble making their calls (although the rest are SD models).
Unfortunately, the only reference I've seen here to that error is for folks in the UK. I haven't seen any posts about this in the HDTivo section. The box has version 3.1.5e-01-2-357 software on it. I've tried a Clear Program Data & To Do List and repeated Guided Setup. I tried changing the dial in number. Same result. I will try a Clear and delete everything but I figured I'd post here before I did that. The unit does have a warranty so if I can't get this fixed I'll have D replace it, but again, I figured I'd ask here first.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Jeff
Have you tried taking the unit to a friend's house and have the unit call from there?

I haven't. I've seen mention made of it in those UK theads but it usually was because a user didn't have a local phone line (cell only) and needed an update to fix the slo-motion issue that plagued older software SD DTivos. So, I didn't think that was a problem applicable to me. I may try it though but I may also try a different jack in my house first. Thanks.

Well, just for test purposes, I tried a different phone cord to that same jack first. This time, I kept an eye on the download status screen to see where exactly it was failing. I hadn't done that before because the process was such a lengthy one.
Again, the download apparently completed. It started loading the data and got all the way to 89% before it failed with the same error. I'll try another jack in the house and then possibly try at a friend's house. Or, I may just call D and have them send me another box. I should have checked this before I started recording stuff on it, but of course hindsight is 20/20. Ah well, another tech PITA to deal with...

Long shot, but do you have call waiting? If so, do you have *70 entered as a dialing prefix?

Yes to the first but no to the second. I'll give it a shot but I doubt that's the problem. We don't get many calls to the house since most people call my wife and I on our cell phones so I wouldn't think that would be the problem. But I'll try it just the same.

Yes, I know, a major pain. But a clear and delete everything solved the problem for me, twice. It's not unusual for you to have to do this upon receiving a replacement unit too.
Based on my experience (your mileage may vary) this will solve what appears to be a phone line problem.
Good luck.

Yeah, I'll probably do a clear and delete. Although, I did get the 6.3 upgrade message. So, I wonder if it will properly install 6.3 given this loading series issue. I'm also curious if the software upgrade could possibly "fix" the the problem if it is able to perform the upgrade.

Beats me. The upgrade hasn't hit my zip yet - 90732

Well, I bit the bullet and did a clear and delete. It's coming back up now and I will force a daily call ASAP. If that doesn't work, I'll call D and get a new unit immediately.

Looks like I have a bad unit. Same result after clear and delete everything - hour-long daily call, loading progress gets to 89%, then the "failed while loading series" error. i'm kicking myself for not doing all this right when it came. I absolutely will fully test the new one though as soon as I get it.

Just talked to D and a replacement is on the way. Thanks to all for the suggestions.
