3 months out of parts/labor warranty:

On 9/18, OTA Tuner B started registering zero signal strength (A was finely strong). System test shows both OTA tuners working and I swapped cables inside the box to eliminate cable and connection (except for intra-tuner) as problems.

Is it definitely a hardware problem, or is there a possibility of a software bug (the older rev is still installed, not 6.3 update)? Is there an easy repair option? Not wanting to remove the shielding just yet, I assume the tuner is directly soldered to the PC board.

Barring repairs, etc, is there a way to disable Tuner B so that the recorder only uses Tuner A?

Sure looks like your OTA Tuner B is dead. Very unlikely that a software update will cure this one. You've already rebooted the DVR, right? Sometimes a reboot will bring a seemingly dead tuner back to life. If you're real handy with a soldering iron you could probably swap in a good tuner module. You would have to fine one, of course. Unfortunately there's no way to deselect the second OTA tuner without also deselecting the second satellite tuner (creating a one-tuner DVR).

Is it true that those modules are combo sat/ota? Just noticed sat tuner b is registering lower (35% vs 50%) on the system test and somewhat lower when I check individual transponders.

No, the satellite tuners are not combined with the OTA tuner modules.
