Is there a discreet code to put in my universal remote that will get me immediately to the Dolby Digital on/off screen on the HR10-250?
I've got a convoluted situation where my Sony LCD does not have a built in DD decoder and the HDMI input gives me a "audio type not supported" error message which is forcing me to choose standard audio instead of DD for watching shows via the panel's speakers. If there is a one-button solution to get me right to the Dolby Digital screen in Setup > Audio it would solve my problem.
TIA

I doubt it. They don't even have a discreet code to toggle closed caption, and that macro is 20 steps (for me). If you do write a macro, you can use ch-up and ch-down for top of screen and bottom of screen, which does help.

Just connect the analog stereo audio to your TV. If you can only listen in stereo anyway, then it doesn't matter if it is a digital connection.

The TV has to be analog but the receiver is DD. I just paid a boatload of money for a custom wall-hanging install and I'd have to have the guy come back to put some more cables behind the wall. So if there's an easy on/off toggle button I can create I'll be much happier.

The other solution, which may not work for you, is to have all audio through the receiver. There is no one-button toggle solution AFAIK.

If you leave the TiVo on DD, you can output 5.1 through optical (and HDMI) and still get stereo out of the analog outs. There is no need to toggle anything. Just tell your TV to use the analog inputs, and tell you receiver to use the optical input. I have mine set up this way, and it works fine. (Receiver + Projector for DD 5.1 and a HDTV CRT on HDMI + analog for stereo audio.)
