I never really paid this show much attention before, but I really liked it a lot. The story was dark, as it should be for Batman. I enjoyed the Robin backstory. The only exposure I have to Robin's history is from the movie with Chris O'Donnell. This was pretty close to that.

I was really surprised how well they handled the Robin backstory. I expected something like the Batman Forever telling, but they kept it dark and hard hitting.

The Batman has been hit or miss since it started, but I have to admit that the past two seasons have been more hit than miss. It's no Batman:TAS, but it's a decent substitute.

I've dumped royally on this incarnation of Batman before and I stated that this would never equal the level of the Dini-Timm Batman series.
Would someone hand me a knife and fork because I'm about to eat those words.

This is best episode they've done and it does get to the level of Dini-Timm.
While not quite at the level of "Robin's Reckoning", it was a very good retelling of Robin's origin and I found the death of the Graysons quite chilling.

Young Dick's pain and loss was well done and I could see why Bruce decided to take him in.
The Batman being sufficently dark while chasing after Zucco was another big plus. This was the Batman I had been expecting to see two years ago.

However, Kevin Conroy still makes a better John Grayson than Rino Romano makes a Batman but the choice was Mark Hamil as Zucco was a interesting choice.

Let's hope they can keep it up.

I have to agree, this was several notches above the previous The Batman offerings. I just fear that once they bring Batgirl back into it the goofiness will return.

It was a nice touch to have Kevin Conroy as John Grayson. Interesting that Mark Hamil has actually learned to do another voice. He usually just does the Joker voice for every animated role he takes on.

I picked up The Batman upon completion of watching the first two years of Justice League (and a handful of Batman TAS eps) on Boomerang. My friend who is to blame for me getting into 'toons says that S2 of The Batman turned out to be miles better than S1. Would the people in this thread agree?

I wouldn't.

I would say that the second season is marginally better than the first in the same way that the third season of Enterprise is marginally better than the second.
