View Full Version : HR10-250 manufacture date of 3-05. HDMI problems?
I have lurked on this group for a while and have read that some HR10's have problems with their HDMI connection. I just bought a new unit which a manufacturers date of 03-05.
Does this unit have the potential to have the HDMI problem?

I don't know when mine were made, but both have hdmi problems. THe interface works, but the box continually shuts down thinking it is over heating. I know it isn't because I've never had the problem with the component outputs.

The switch to the later HDMI board took place in during 11/05.

Only one way to tell. Connect it via HDMI and see if it works. I've had three of them for over a year and none have ever experienced problems via HDMI connection.

Mine doesn't have a manufacturer date.. I wonder what that means. I've never used HDMI.

I have the same problem with the false overheating probl;em when using HDMI. Mine never displayed this problem until this week after I upgraded from 3.1e to 3.1f. Is this just coincidence or is it related to the software version, too?

From previous posts and from my experience over the past 12 months, if you have an undated box under the "Made in Mexico" logo you're good to go. Secondly the ones packaged in the black cardboard boxes rather than the white cardboard boxes are generally newer.
I have 6 HR-10s and have had no HDMI problems with any of them. I remember opening at least 3 or 4 boxes at BB to get the correct one about 12 months ago.
Hope this helps

Hooked it up and HDMI is working fine. Will see if it continues to work. It was in a white box. Just had a small sticker with 03/05 on it. I assumed this was the manuf date.

Interesting, my original was a white box unit and it never had a problem with HDMI, the replacement DirecTV sent me and the one I just purchased are Black box units and they both have the hdmi problem.

Save yourself some grief and use the component output. I went through 3 HR10's and finally gave up.
Everything worked fine with HDMI when it was coupled with a previous projector I had in our HT. New projector and video processor wouldn't play with HDMI fairly. D* was lame of course, all they could do was send boxes. There are a bunch of threads about this. Best advice I got at the time was to use component.
That was a year ago. In late Novemer of 05 I got a new receiver and projector and HDMI works fine, never had an issue.
There is something in the HDMI handshake that is sensitive on the HR10. All I can tell you is unless your willing to change your display or other link in the chain HDMI wan't be working for you. And even then it's a crapshoot.
Maybe 6.3a fixes this? Better error handling? Gotta have your dreams.
