 New customer with Directv. Ordered the HD Reciever just to find out that my single tuner Tivo with lifetime sub. doesn't work well anymore now that I got rid of cable. I now have to watch the one show I am recording and half the time, the satellite doesn't change to the correct channel so I've missed shows that were on the To Do List.

I am looking for a dual tuner DVR, so I can record one show while watching another. I can't afford the R10-250, so what are your recommendation? Will I need to keep the HD receiver and pay for an additional receiver in the new DVR? If so, how will the recording work? I know it wouldn't record in HD, but could I still watch an HD show from the one reciever and record another using the DVR? Last question, since I am new to directv, will I be able to transfer my lifetime sub to the new DVR?

THanks for any input.

Did you get an instant rebate on the dvr? Or are you having to mail one in? You could always call dtv and talk to retention 1-800-824-9081 and explain (nicely is the key) that you were not given your options. Because the hddvr would qualify for a $100 rebate making the receiver $199 I believe? So what they may end up doing is just applying a credit towards your services( it depends on what options are available to the CSR). As far as the dtv dvr it's powered by a different dvr service therefore tivo lifetime specifically subscribed with tivo is non transferable to the new receiver.. that's a downfall. Plus the interface on the dtv dvr is somewhat different but very similar features.
