View Full Version : Weird re-booting issue

I have 2 D*Tivo's in my living room. They're both hooked up directly to the living room TV and the signal from both is also distributed to the other 5 TV's in the house via a Channel Plus distribution system.
I used the pyramid remote extenders for a couple of years and the whole system worked pretty good. I sometimes had a problem with the receivers picking up a signal with the pyramid system so I switched to the RF Remote extender system from Weaknees.
The remotes work great from all over the house, but all of a sudden I have a strange re-boot issue. I also have a Harmony 676 in the living room that operates all my equipment.

Whenever I hit the button to watch TV via the 2nd D*Tivo (turns TV on, sets TV to correct input, turns on stereo receiver, sets stereo to correct input, remote sets itself to control D*Tivo #2), the first D*Tivo re-boots. It doesn't re-boot any other time.

How could sending the signals to turn on the TV, change inputs, turn on receiver, etc. cause one of the D*Tivo's to reboot?

When I hit the button to watch TV via the first D*Tivo, the second doesn't reboot.

Any thoughts?

Look around in this forum for stuff about setting the address on remotes... I vaguely recall something about ID 0 being "all" and if the remote has been reset to 'factory' (batteries dead for a while?) then it may have an ID of 0 and will affect ALL of your boxes at the same time, or may act just plain bizarre.

I think the screen where it lists your serial number, your receiver ID, etc. lists the remote address for that box - use the front panel buttons to display that screen, use the info to select the proper ID when you set the address on your remote.

Nope, D*Tivo #1 is set to 1 and D*Tivo #2 is set to 2. Even if it was zero, however, would it cause one to reboot?

Thanks for the info.

I know how to set peanuts to the proper address and all of them (including the Harmony 676) are set correctly.

Any other thoughts?
