just read about having the drives on different IDE cables, and mine is taking forever. How do I safely stop it so that it doesn't take 2 days!?

HURRY!

CTRL-C may do it...

if not try CTRL-ALT-DEL... i

f that won't work just power the machine down (hold powere switch in, or even pull the power cable) ... you'll be restarting from the beginning anyway so it doesn't really matter

thanks, I was hoping not to have to shut down a running hard drive, but seems no damage done.

However, I moved one drive to my secondary chain, and it is still VERY slow. I'm on about a 30hr job going from 250gb to 750gb

make sure DMA is enabled - a search for hdparm will find you what you need

well, I'm 70% done now, so I'm just going to let it roll!

Thanks for the advice.

Got it done, took 25hrs to transfer to the new 750gig. But it is working great, and I'm glad I did it myself. Got a 750gig on ebay for $240, and it was more than worth the wait.
