I have a Directv Tivo and added a Series 3 to my account today. I asked about the multiple Tivo account discount and they said they said you can not combine the two as one is service with Directv and the other is service with Tivo. Now if I add a 2nd series 3 to my Tivo account I would get the special price ($6.95). So my price is $12.95 per month. No discount either for paying one year in advance.
On my Directv Tivo account I had the lifetime agreement .

The Directv exception has been the case since MSD was started, and it is clearly stated in the terms and conditions. That is even the case with Lifetimed Directv's because your lifetime is with your satellite account, not the unit. If you cancelled your account, the box would not have lifetime anymore.

The DirecTV issue is a longstanding one, but I'm curious about your statement above. This is not the impression I got when I called the VIP transfer line to inquire about the details.
I have an old Series 1 box w/ lifetime. I asked if I could just pay $6.95 for service on the Series 3, and was told that is not allowed.
My understanding was that I would be allowed to use a Series 3 box as the primary and activate other (non-series 3) boxes at $6.95, but that any Series 3 box had to pay the $12.95/month.
I have seen posts from a few people that ordered more than one. Can any of them confirm if they were able to get a second series 3 activated at the reduced monthly rate?

I heard the same thing when I called. I have two Series2 SA units with lifetime, and was told by TiVo customer support that the Series3 was not eligible for MSD. It however could be used as a qualifying unit to get the MSD on a Series1 or Series2.

I had no problems activating my S3 for 6.95. I used Manage My Account on www.tivo.com to active a Tivo. No problems at all.
I have 3 S1's with Lifetime and 2 (was 3) S2's on MSD @ 6.95.

There is no discount for paying one year in advance, but you can pay $299 for 3 years. Which works out to about $8.30 per month. And if you add another TiVo after that it will still be eligable for the $6.95/mo MSD price.
