View Full Version : Has anyone run into this with their S3?

I got my S3 a couple days ago, and the cable card setup went fine. I am not getting a few channels, but it appears to be a signal strength problem.

The only issue so far is that when I hit the Tivo button to go from live HD (with dolby digital) I get a kind of "bzzt" for a fraction of a second while it transitions to the "Now Playing" screen. I know that I am not supposed to get sound effects in DD (I have it hooked up to an AV receiver), but the "bzzt" doesn't sound right to me.

I tried turning off sound effects and it went away, so there is definitely a connection there.

Has anyone else run into this or is this a problem specific to my unit?

What video output mode do you have selected? Native? It is possibly due to the TV's scaler/deinterlacer switching from 1080i to 720p when you go to the Now Playing screen.... My TV makes some cool noises when it does that... kinda like the tivo bong noise being echoed. You could try switching to fixed 1080 or 720 and I bet it goes away.

I get a very short bzzt and also about a second where the screen is all snow.

The home screen then shows up normally.

I am pretty sure I set it to display everything in 1080i because I didn't want it to display 480i as 480i, which is what I understand will happen if I select "native." I will double check when I get home, though.

The noise is kind of annoying.
