I was just tooling around on the computer here and I noticed my S3 went and did a service upgrade right behind me just now. I noticed it's still running 8.0.1a, but I'm a newbie to the Tivo-owning world. Are service updates like this normal, or should I only expect those a once or twice a year as a major update? Any way to see what was changed, or is this just some sort of nightly maintenance it runs?

Thanks for the info!

8.0.1a is just a bugfix release--I doubt anyone (other than beta testers had 8.0.1 long enough to know what the differences are.

I'd expect a software update every 6-12 monthson average, but new units tend to get upgrades sooner... some will be small, some will be big. It's been reported in the forum that we can expect an upgrade in about 2 months that will include KidZone, the Deleted Programs folder, One-Button Delete, and a few other 7.3.x features.

After that, it really depends on when/if TiVo gets approval for any or all the features being held up by CableLabs (MRV, TTG, eSATA) - I'd imagine they will want to beta test those in the "wild" for a while even after approval, even though I'd expect the code is done already.

We've been told the next major update is planned for ~November.

Unknown yet what all this update will add, but I wouldn't expect TivoToGo or MRV.

Actually, that's the thing. I thought it already came with 8.0.1a. So, the version number didn't even seem to increase.

They shipped with 8.0.1 and updated to 8.0.1a right away.

Is one-click-delete not working for everyone else because it sure is for me... :-/

Has it been officially stated the ESATA feature is being held up by Cablelabs? I thought that was purely a post release addition that couldn't be bundled in timely enough..

Maybe on a Series 2 box, but not on a Series 3 box ...

Is one-click-delete not working for everyone else because it sure is for me... :-/One click delete is NOT working on the S3. That's where you just hit clear and it deletes, no confirmation, etc. It is only there when the Recently Deleted folder is, and that isn't on the S3 yet. It will be later this year.
