Just got an automated call from RCN telling me of an update for their DVR which will provide me with great new features! And by the way, all personal settings, parental controls and DVR content will be erased and will need to be re-programmed... Huh? Are you serious? Can you imagine if TiVo called us and said, "Hey, we have a great update for you....oh, and everything on your disk will be erased..." :eek:

They sorta did, it's called the S3. Can't move my season passes, shows, or settings from my S2. :p

Its not uncommon for major upgrades to any dvr software to intentionally reset certain settings.

But to delete all content? I've got four movies and five TV shows I haven't watched yet, and I just got the message. They're giving me very little time to catch this stuff before I lose it. :down:
I got the same idiotic message. My S3 isn't here yet, and I've got the entire season of Entourage on there. I can undestand losing the settings, etc, but recorded content? It just means they're being lazy with the software update. But no worries, I'll be returning the box next week.
