A team throws a challenge. A compass is found. I don't think we'll see a surprise at tribal council.

Billy is now officially, and by a wide margin, the STUPIDEST player in Survivor history.

I think he may even have pulled out shifting the group against Ozzy, if he hadn't given them clear evidence that he was a raving lunatic at tribal council.

And the spearfishing equipment was among the stuff that could be salvaged from the sailing ship that brought them to the island - they just had to get it to the Island with them.

Interesting revelation by Billy during Tribal Council.

Was the immunity challenge the first time they've allowed a tie?

I can't wait to see him sleeping on the sand only to have the waves roll over him... I have three words for morons who don't want floors: bugs, snakes, and rats.

I'm willing to bet Billy doesn't even get invited back to the reunion show- stalker laws and all that....

After the vote was revealed, I actually rewound to his love confession to try to find the exact moment the two women nod at each other and say "OK ... never mind that flip thing."

Couldn't find it. :P

"Heavy Metal tribe". Sheesh.

Note to Billy: When on Survivor that is divided by racial lines, do not tell the others that you don't feel you belong with them, that you identify more with the "metal" tribe than the Latino tribe. Kinda makes you stick out. Oh, and don't say you love someone that you've been seperated from the whole 6 days, and only see at the immunity challenge.

P.S. When you get picked to be on Survivor, you better bring it, son, step up and do lots of work and be prepared to play the game. Don't sit back, not want to do work, sleep, and say that you are happy to not do stuff you don't know about (how do you think that you learn?), but are happy to reap the rewards of others hard work.

I laughed watching them try and try to make fire. Like many have said before, how do you go on this show and not learn to make fire? This was worse than normal: They were given flint AND MAGNESIUM, and we've even seen on previous shows that the contestants knew you were supposed to scrape shavings off the magnesium onto the tinder then hit it with the sparks.

It looks l ike the same one I've seen before, which probably says magnesium right on the side.

We got to see more of the rules that go with the hidden immunity idol. Now we know explicitly that you can't hand to someone while at Tribal Council. If you're going to give it to someone you have to do it before you leave your beach. And we know you can't steal it from someone.

I still think it would be interesting, maybe humorous, if Yul had cobbled up something, put it in the box and re-burried it. I'd love to see someone strut around with a fake immunity idol and not know it.

Thanks to the subtitles it was easy to see that Candace said "we love you" to which Billy responded "I love you." I think Billy based his whole love affair on that misunderstood statement.

There seems to be a player on each team who's strategy is to piss off everyone else.

OH MY! Ok, I was siding with the girls in my sympathy vote to keep Billy (as well as getting rid of the strongest player who was obviously on his way to taking over the tribe), even while agreeing with them all that he was dead weight...until tribal council. OMG, what a complete freak!! I couldn't believe that he really thought that he was "in love"! GAG!!! She's going to be more than a little freaked out that he believes they have a love connection! YIKES! I did go back and watch the moment on the beach a couple more times after he revealed his love though, lmao. Too funny!

Ruth

Billy was useless (and apparently delusional), but throwing challenges is still really dumb. They focus on getting rid of the "dead weight" and totally ignore the emotional toll that is going to result from losing, scheming, backstabbing, and tribal counsel (which is apparently several hours long and usually difficult). That is the stuff that makes your tribe less cohesive and undermines your performance. Plus why would you want to place yourself at risk when you could avoid it?

I've heard this before and it doesn't make sense to me. What could they possibly have to talk about even for 1 hour at tribal? Also, why wouldn't anyone just clam up and say jeff, you ask too many questions, i've watched 100 seasons of your show and know that people are swayed too much by your leading questions and i refuse to participate in it? :) Get a few people together saying that and boom, it's done

Oh, I think it's obvious most of them have seen every episode ever made. It's just that all they seem to have paid attention to is the political side of the game. They all seem to think that it's all about "playing the game," and that the actual survival part will take care of itself (not a bad theory, actually, since the producers make sure everybody gets everything they need sooner rather than later)...

The cop lady, the only one who was opposed to throwing the challenge, is the only likable player on that team. The guys are TOTAL idiots! But after hearing that these people are not Survivor vans, this make more sense.

Of course, having seen Billy's psycho side, I would have gotten rid of him as well, but they didn't know that at the time that they threw it. Unless there were other signs which edited out for added shock effect.

In ether way, this was a dumb move! He wasn’t “dead weight”, he was “buffer” for when they really lost a challenge!

As for the “floor hater”. What exactly was his argument against the floor? Did he have something better to do? I would have said: “Fine, you sleep on the ground, we will sleep on the raised floor”.

I said to my wife the same thing about the buffer. You don't thow a challenge EVER. You keep him around, since he is the easy target when you finally do lose, you don't have to worry about in fightinng, just take him out then.

But jeez, the love thing was really creepy. They had water, they had food, so it couldn't be delirium, he could really be the creepy dude that sleeps in his parents house.

He has choosen someone to love based on his misguided belief they love him. Guess, it is the low hanging fruit thing.

At first, I didn't agree with throwing the challenge, but then I remembered one small tidbit: Billy's snoring. The team won't be able to win many challenges if they can't sleep at night. For that reason alone I'd have gotten rid of him sooner rather than later. If the dead wood isn't affecting the performance of the team, keep him around. But if that dead wood is dragging you down, get rid of it.

NEVER THROW A CHALLANGE, ESPECIALLY BEFORE THE MERGE! I hope that team looses every challange now!

I was a little surprised how deep he had to dig to get to the immunity idol...

Even if he found the right place, how far down does one dig before giving up and figuring it must be somewhere else? IIRC he marked several possible locations based on the clues, so he must have had multiple places to dig... I probably would have dug fairly deep...but not sure I would have gone down that far or not...

As I recall, Gary Hogeboon used it but Terry did not.

But, it should have been found by the first guy, the clue this week was just even more explicit than last week at saying the same thing.

OK, I got bored during FC and FF'd. What exactly did Billy say about Candace and how goofily did he say it?

MitchO
09-22-2006, 12:08 PM
It was kind of a bolt from the blue: "Oh and I'm totally in love. It was love at first sight; I have an inspiration and her name is Candace."

Probst did such a double take you'd swear his eyes did the Roger Rabbit bugout, and when he asked where Billy got it from, he replied that they looked at each other at the last challenge and kind of mouthed "I love you" to each other.

(For the record, they showed the scene, and after he told them "I'm gone, I'm next", she says "But we love you ..." and Billy says "I love you too."

So, I'm the only one that likes Ozzy?
I kind of like Ozzy too. He's at least playing the game hard, although his choice of strategy is a little misguided. He knows he's better at stuff than most of his tribe and doesn't want to be seen as a leader, yet he can't keep his mouth shut about something as stupid as how to set up the net to catch the chicken. All he had to do was let Christina try her way and fail, and then he could have done his way and been the hero. Instead he looked like an ass.

As for the idiot on the white tribe who was too lazy to build a floor, he actually did say that they should build a floor only for those who wanted it and that he would prefer to sleep on the sand. I would have taken him up on that and laughed my ass off the next time it rained.

it was not as far down as he dug but in making the hole wider so he could dig deeper he found it along the side of the hole. still looked at least a couple feet or more down.

no, marked one cross spot where the clues gave him and started digging there.
as to how far thats up to the contestant and what he/she thinks it's worth compared to the hell with it they are wrong, reread clues/start over or give up.

It was funny when he did find it. He seemed to be as surprised as we were that he found it so quickly. But in reality, in an island that small, it couldn't have taken long.

If they don't merge tribes soon, then the idol could potenially come up sooner. I wouldn't be surprised if we see some double elim episodes just so we get closer to someone having to use the idol.

What are the chances he will let Becky know he has it? (Jeez, she is pretty damned hot).

MrGreg

The asian team will probably at least get rid of cao boi before the hidden idol comes into play. And didn't the guy who found the idol make an alliance with one of the girls on his team during this episode? He's probably safe until the first merge.

Even if these people were 'quickly recruited' as I've heard this year, the first guy that voted off said he had a only few days between interview and when he was in sequester. I'm guessing enough time to learn all about fire and how to build things. It's a chance at 1 million bucks! You just gotta spend 100% of your time learning things that will help.

Agreed. It was a very immature strategy. Ozzy may know a lot, but he is still young and inexperienced. Kicking someone out of your tribe for no good reason is amateur hour and something a brash child would do. Huge mistake.

Even if he did not lift one finger around the camp, it is not worth getting rid of him now. It is just a dumb move. Now if you lose the next challenge you are the only tribe with 3 people and at a huge disadvantage going forward. Numbers are such a significant portion of this game that you can NEVER afford to kick off a potential ally unless it gains you something tangible. There was no gain here.

If Candance gets voted off before the jury, they would have had time in loser lodge and on the various field trips to get to know each other. It would have been like camp. ;)

Candace is from around my area, and there was an interview with her parents in the local paper. Based on what her parents said about her background and upbringing, it's very much an odd couple match if true.

Not to mention, if they hadn't thrown in the towel it was most likely the black team that would have lost (they were pretty far behind the first and second place teams). Then that team would have been down to three people and really hurting.

[From the CBS bio] ...She graduated from Terry Sanford High School where she was president of her class and captain of the soccer and cross country teams. She received a perfect score on the math portion of her SATs.

Woodcock won full merit scholarships to both the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University. She accepted the Morehead Scholarship to attend UNC-Chapel Hill and eventually received her Bachelor of Science Degree in biology and psychology with a minor in chemistry...

...She has just begun graduate school at Georgetown University to attain a Master's Degree in physiology and biophysics. She then plans to attend medical school. She hopes to use her medical degree to do service work in developing countries and also in underserved areas of the U.S.

Just watched the "Early Show" from Friday with Billy. He basically said that when someone is starving and you throw them a couple of crumbs, they'll say that's the best meal they've ever had. So when he was starving for affection, after having been treated so pooly by his team, he says, "It was like the best affection I've ever had. It was a moment of weakness."

Basically he acknowledged that he looked like an idiot and just laughed it off. He said that had something like that happened in real life he would have asked her for coffee or something. He gave no indication that they are currently dating or even if they've had any contact after the show.

They also showed a "Secret Scene" which consisted of Billy trying to catch the chickens with the Hawaiian Sling (the fishing spear). He kept hitting them but they'd just squawk loudly and run away. Ozzy was laughing at him and said he thought it was the dumbest idea ever.

I saw something similar on the CBS affiliate here this morning (in the DC metro area). I think he mentined the crumbs, and then said something about how he would probably apologize to her and then ask her out. It was probably a tape of what was shown on the Early Show on Friday.

Why would this girl hook up with Mr. "metal culture"? I don't buy it. She probably let him buy her a soda after the show, and he interpreted that as a "relationship". Poor guy.

I think he would have considered this an engagement.

Anyone else besides myself find JP's question funny. I laughed so hard but my wife thought I was an idiot. :p

Harry Smith was pretty kind to him during the interview. Smith asked an indirect question about it and them let it go with no follow up.

I hate to admit it, but I laughed at it too.

If you look at it again, she actually elbows him twice first, before she says anything. This was obviously edited for our benefit.

How funny would it be if Candice is somehow the next person to be voted out? Then at the reunion show she and Billy would have to sit next to each other. I wonder if a Restrianing Order would allow that? :D

But, it should have been found by the first guy, the clue this week was just even more explicit than last week at saying the same thing.

I don't think so. I think the first clue indicated a line on which the idol could be found. The second clue indicated another line, and Yul had to figure out where the two lines crossed.

Which he did.

I was so astonished, I just remember letting that one go by because I was waiting for someone in the tribe to make a crack.

Couldn't believe Billy on the Early Show, saying he laid back to conserve energy, so when the others exhausted themselves, he would step up to the plate. The man is a legend in his own mind. :D
