I called DTV today and used the same Sunday ticket argument (although she told me that was for new subscribers only) and I got a Free new High Def Tivo.. Plus a 5 LNB dish.. I have been a subscriber since '99 and they call me an A list subscriber if that means anything.. and I paid for my last High def receiver.

My question is I have 4 tivos with 2 lines to each. I have a 8 way splitter.
How many lines come off a 5 Lnb Dish.. What are the extra LNBs for and how many lines come out of it. Will I need a new splitter?

Thx

Your current dish actually has an 8-output multiswitch. Your new dish will be similar .... 4 lines coming from the new dish to a new 4-input multiswitch (Zinwell WB68), with 8-outputs for your various Receivers and DVRs.

The extra LNBs enable reception of DirecTV's new Ka-band satelliltes at 99-deg W and 103-deg W, along with the existing satellites at 101, 110 and 119-deg W. These new satellites deliver local HDTV channels to selected cities using a new MPEG4 compression, and eventually additional HDTV channels.

I got a Free new High Def Tivo.. Plus a 5 LNB dish You probably got an HR20-700 which is has nothing to do with Tivo. DirecTV has been out of the HR10-250 for a few days now.

Lots more information about the new HR20-700 HD DVR in the "HR20 Forum" at http://www.dbstalk.com

The multiswitch they install, if you ask for it, will have 8 outputs.
Zinwell just came out with the DirecTV approved 6x16 multiswitch. Just call up Zinwell about pricing and availability.

Otherwise you might want to have two 6x8 zinwell multiswitches and 4 dc powerpassing splitter ready.
