I moved my receiver to my daughter's room and it said it not making the phone connections. I tried a different number and I unhooked the phone cord and put it in again.

I tried to call tech support but lately I am on hold for 20 mins and I just give up.

I noticed it has a prefix of #34, that was put there before.( i dont know if that means anything)
I have my Hd tivo downstairs and same phone system and I checked , it made a successful call yesterday.

Any ideas, what is wrong?

Disadvantages to it not making a phone call:
1) A daily "nag message", just ignore it and go on.
2) Not be able to order PPV's direct from the box with the remote, its in your daughters room - that's a plus. If you approve of her having a PPV, order it onlinie and then all of your boxes will get it.
3) You will miss out on future software updates for the box, there probably aren't going to be any.
In other words forget about it, its no big deal, I've had ones that have not made calls for upwards of two years.

echoing Willard's post, why bother with it? The phone call is completely unnecessary.

Thank you. I can live with that. The TV guide of the next 2 weeks is not affecting by that, right?
The TV guide list is control by satellite?

The TV guide list is control by satellite?yes, the guide data comes over the satellite. The phone call only sends PPV purchases to Directv and sends general information about what is being watched to them. Any future software updates come via satellite, but a phone call must be made to install the software.

Do you have DSL? If so you need to put a DSL filter on the phone line to the TiVo.
Also, the prefix should be ,#34. This slows the TiVo modem so that it can connect on a noisy phone line.
