Upgrading hardware?

I currently have a Series2 TiVo with a 1-year service agreement w/ the $12.95/mo rate (I'm 4 months into it) .. and I've been thinking about upgrading to the Dual Tuner box, and I'm trying to figure out how to do it best...

On Tivo's website, they have a deal where you pay $30 and sign up for a year of service, but it's $19.95/mo ..

Does anyone think I have a chance of keeping my $12.95/mo if I upgrade (paying the $30) and re-signing up for a year?

Your commitment is for a year of service on that Tivo, not just a year of service. If you want to replace your current Tivo with a DT Tivo you should wait 'til your one year commitment is up. The alternative is to have both Tivos subscribed until the commitment on your current tivo ends. Whether you cancel or use your current subscription, you'll have to pay for eight more months of service and if you're paying, you may as well be using the Tivo too.

Hmm.. If I have a 2nd TV, I might consider having 2 Tivos ... The trick is convincing the wife :)

At first the one TiVo had a low *SAF ... After realizing the advantage of being able to pause TV while our son threw tantrums/ate/got in trouble/need a diaper change/etc .. The SAF raised.. I don't think a 2nd TiVo would fly with her .. yet :)
