View Full Version : Help with wireless and tv channels for sdh400
I am totally clueless and trying to set up my sdh400 with a wireless adapter. We just moved the unit to another room and there isn't a phone line, so I have a linksys router wireless g and the router we have is a linksys wusb11 2.6. The set up screen lists out network but it can't connect. I entered the password correctly and retried but no luck. It is telling me to add the macid or to switch to WEP encryption, but I have no idea what that means or what to do.
My other problem is the remote will turn the tv on off, volume, but will not change the channel on the tv. When I press channel up or down I see the tivo screen and the channel on that is changing, but what I see on the screen does not change from whatever the cable default is for channel 3. My tv is a toshiba and the connection is just dvr to tv, nothing else fancy. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.
Can anyone help? PLEASE????

Your message is not very clear. What are the model numbers of your router and the wireless USB adapter you have for the Toshiba? Do you use other wireless network adapters in your setup, or is this a new installation? You might take a look at the Linksys site. They should have a basic tutorial on wireless networking and security.
As for the TV, the Toshiba assumes you're watching through it, and so it will not change channels on the TV even if the Toshiba is in standby. You might consider getting a third-party remote that can handle both devices, put the Toshiba in and out of standby, etc. Search this forum and the help forum for ideas on remotes.
The SD-H400 will record while it's in standby, allowing you to watch other shows without a coax splitter.

wireless router is WRT54G, wireless adapter is linksys wusb11 802.11 v2.6 It is a new installation.
I figured out the problem. We use WPA and this will only use WEP. I guess we'll be waiting on wireless until there is one that will support WPA. I also got my channel issue solved.
