As a break from the threads angry at slow delivery, i have a question.
What are the options for the front display?
Can you turn it off? Not display what the tuners are recording?
Does it always show what channel youre on and what you are watching?
Thanks

There is an options to turn off the clock but I'm not sure if it also turns off the names of the recording shows. The option is in Settings under display, there is a fron pannel display option. You can turn it bright, dim and off.
I think the display only shows when it is recording something you scheduled but I'd have to test that premise to be certain.

That's correct. There are three states:
1. Red light and program name. This happens when it's doing a scheduled recording.
2. Red light only (no program name). This happens when it's recording a suggestion.
3. No red light and no program name. This happens when it's not recording anything.

so we can have bright dim and off.
but will bright and dim apply to sharding's setup, and then off means no display whatsoever?

Is the display capable of displaying other information such as music information when playing MP3's or Live 365 stations?

Standby turns off the front panel display entirely. Clock and program names (maybe not LEDs). Finally a use for standby.

lol, no. its just that all of our components have minimal lights or displays as per my wifes request. when she saw the s3, she was a litle intimidated. i have to say, in a dark room it makes all the difference. and i know what im watching, i dont need it to be displayed at all times.
i guess as a last resort, black electrical tape over the display will do the trick.
