Saving or "recording" Tivo Guy Promos??

My kids love TiVo Guy. They ask to see the little intro animation as soon as the TiVo screen comes on and it gets played over and over again.

Well, we just got the promo for the Series 3 and after watching it, I thought they would like to see TiVo Guy in a real life setting. I was right. They LOVED it! Their faces lit up with grins from ear to ear and now they are constantly asking to see "Tivo Guy in the car" and "TiVo Guy at the movies." They even hum along with the THX sound.

My problem is that the promo is eventually going to go away. Is there any way to permanently save it?

Pressing the TiVo button on your remote and then 0 will play the boot animation seqyence. Just be careful about teaching this to young children! :D

As for having it "to go" you could try and search on YouTube or Google video to see if someone has uploaded those somewhere.

I guess you can record it to a VCR.

Since the TiVo can record and play at the same time - connect the output to the input and start a recording, then immediately play the promo.

Search the program guide for Teleworld Paid Program and set up a recording of that program. These shows are how the Showcases get onto your TiVo. By scheduling a recording of one you can control how long it is kept (and you can TTG it to a PC for safekeeping). I'm not sure but probably the ones in the near future will still include the TiVo Guy promo.

Caveat: What you'll get is a half hour block of all the Showcase content as one program. You have to edit the video on a PC (or transfer just the TiVo Guy stuff to a VCR, but you can do that now) if you want to isolate just a piece of it.
