Particularly in the Evansville, IN, area?

I've had two S2's running for a while, but when I purchased my Sony HDTV last December, couldn't resist signing up for Insight's HD-DVR so I could not only watch the available HD content, but record it as well. Needless to say, the user interface for the Motorola box sucks, but I've managed to get along with it.

Now that the S3 is out, I'm soooooo tempted to plunk down the dineros for that box. I called the Evansville Insight office to ask if they had Cable Cards available...I'm not convinced that the person on the other end of the line really knew what I was talking about, but she did say that they were available for $1.95/mo as long as I kept a digital box in the house. Not a problem - I'll just keep the standard digital box for one of my S2's, dump the HD DVR and install an S3 in its place.

But I'm curious...has anyone with Insight digital cable service setup and S3 and had the Cable Cards installed? How did it go?

Thanks in advance!

I had them come out this morning to install mine. So far only half of my HD channels are working :(

I called Insight, told them I wanted 2 cable cards for my new TiVo Series 3, they sent an installer (early October). He'd never heard of Series 3. I gave him the sheet TiVo provides for installers, he did the install, which necessitated him calling someone to activate the cards (once call each card). I got the impression that he had a little difficulty with someone who was handling the first call, and had to speak to a supervisor, or perhaps a more-informed rep. He was here about 1/2 hour, and was happy to take away a copy of the TiVo install sheet for future reference. Everything worked fine when he left, and it still works fine, through several lineup changes from Insight. They've given me no problems with operation, billing, or anything else. I don't subscribe to HBO or Showtime, but I used to have HBO when I had the Insight Motorola DVR box, and they didn't cancel it until a couple of days after the Series 3 activation, so I know it worked OK, too. What a relief to get rid of that terrible Motorola DCT6412 box!!

I just had mine installed a few days ago up here in Northern KY with Insight. I followed the instruction to a "T", and we had a problem with the second card. It would give the authorization numbers and then a minute or two later it would give an error. I think the error was 6-141, not sure exactly. He tried a second card in the second slot and the same exact thing happened.

What we did is leave the cablecards in after they were both activated and did a cold restart of the Tivo and then everything worked fine. Tivo must have some issues in their software, but it did eventually work.

I think the error was 6-141... (snip)

I don't have an S3, but I think I recall reading on here somewhere that with Motorola cards, the 6-141 error was "the good error".
