Hi there -
A while ago (year or two probably) I did an upgrade on a 40 hour Tivo where I added a 120 Gig drive to it. The upgrade was successful, but it seemed every time the Tivo updated it's software, the Tivo would have a lot of problems (randomly locking up, restarting, etc) for a few weeks and then would seem to correct itself.
Well, with the latest software update, the large drive I added finally failed (have to look into it's warranty... ).
I still have the original backup image i took from my Tivo a year or more ago. Can this image still be used to update a new drive I purchase? Or, will the Tivo OS updates in the meantime have change anything in my update process?
In another line of questioning, while I was trying to put the original image back on just my original 40 hour drive, I had the drives in my computer and accidentally forgot to put the boot CD in the drive. The computer got as far as the 'Starting windows...' scroll bar along the bottom before I shut it off. Seeing that the 40 hour Tivo drive was set up as the slave drive during that process, did that action write Windows filesystem stuff to the drive that people say to avoid? If it did, how can I tell and is that process reversible?
Thanks much! Looking forward to having my Tivo back up (especially with the wife breathing down my neck about the new season series starting tonight... )
