Unfortunately I've had zero luck this far getting Comcast to activate my 2 CC's so far. Out of curiosity, how did you get Comcast to activate your cards one at a time? Or does it realy make any difference? I tried to explain that the cards appeared (I'm just going off the installer "cheat sheet" that came with the S3) to need activation one at a time. The CSR's just say "yes we see both cards and they should be activated within a few minutes." Is this possibly what's causing problems with getting my CC's activated?

Without the CC's installed my S3 finds non-digital channels no problem, so I know that I have signal coming through my cable. (That and years of using the same cable for my S2, STB, etc....) I've since read about avoiding splitting the signal if at all possible. That will be my next move. I haven't even gotten any sort of "error" so far to be happy about!

Anyway... I'm just curious what your successful Comcast CC activation process went like.

I didn't do mine one at a time. I just called them up and said I need to activate some cable cards. She said, "the ones you just picked up today?" (I guess she could see them on her screen). I said yes, and she asked if they were both installed in the TVs. I said yes (I actually said, "it's one box with two cards," she said "one TV with two cards?" and I just said, "yes."). Then she did whatever she needed to do, sending the signals, and when they were done, the cards worked.

How did you get Comcast to let you pick up the CableCards? I have to wait around this coming Saturday for the installer to come out according to them. If I could pick them up, it would certainly save me time and hassle.

Thanks much for the feedback. I wondered if the 2 cards at once was the issue, but apparently not! (Do you have Motorola cards BTW?) I guess I will find the purest signal in the house I can, hook my S3 up and give Comcast another call. I'm definitely trying to avoid the time and expense of having a truck roll to my house!

I just walked into a local office, asked for 2 cable cards and they were handed to me FWIW. Sounds like I'm lucky in that regard however. (not that I have functioning CC's yet!)

In the Seattle market, they let us pick up (or drop off) pretty much any hardware at their "cable store" locations. It's normal procedure. It didn't require any persuasion or argument. It's apparently just a regional difference in procedure. I've actually never had a tech out to my house after the first day my cable was turned on (and then he basically just came in, saw that there was a picture on the TV, asked if I was satisfied, and left).
