Toshiba Progressive Output Blurred

I have a Toshiba RS-TX20 connected to a Sony KDS 55A2000. When I switch the TiVo to Progressive Output (using Component output), the picture gets softer and less crisp. On my previous LCD TV (Panasonic) progressive output made the picture noticably better.

The obvious answer is keep the interlaced output since it looks better on my current TV but it just seems like Progressive should be able to give a better picture. I'm wondering if I'm missing something...

Look through the other settings. First of all, component can be set to progressive or interlaced, make sure that's right. And, IIRC, there is a setting for some kind of image noise reduction - try toggling that. There is also Video Smoothing, which you want OFF.
