View Full Version : TV Tech Wish List

Maybe you know if there are TVs that counteract such things, but I am so fed up with

1) My local channels announcing severe storm alerts and shrinking the program being aired by 33% for their hi-tech graphics.

Before getting on my case, you need to understand: The Twin Cities (MN) channels think they have viewers 400 miles from town, so we have to endure spaz meteorologists reporting about weather in South Dakota. Rural Minnesota is not so sparsely populated that there aren't channels in those areas that serve viewers there. This is not to mention the bizarre obsession with weather in MN. Weather gets at least twice as much time as sports on our local news programs.

2) Commericial audio being twice the volume level of programming.

I wish TVs had the capability to allow users to crop what is showing on the screen, so one could resize the picture. I also wish there were a way to moderate the volume - especially for cable channels.

I know I have a mute button, but when I start snoozing while watching football, using that's pretty ineffective and defeating the purpose. Is anyone aware of this technology being out there?

This one is TiVo related.

Nothing like leisurely watching a program and seeing a Severe Thunderstorm Warning,
running outside to tie down the dogs only to find out that it is sunny with not a cloud in the sky.
Then you realize you TiVo'd that program 2 weeks ago.

To the degree of No.1, make the STB or display do those. That way, you can set them to be less inocuous, or even off, and get them over a program you are watching over a DVR or other source.
