humming S2 DT box...help!

Hi,

I just bought a TiVo S2 DT at Best Buy on 9/12/06. Everything seems to be working fine EXCEPT I'm hearing a loud humming noise from the box. It doesn't sound like a cooling fan (although I haven't tried stopping the fan with a toothpick yet). Does anyone else have this problem? The noise is pretty annoying/distracting.

There are a couple things that would make a little noise. The first is the fan, the second is the hard drive, but neither should be very easy to hear.

If it isn't a bad fan, my next guess would be a faulty power supply.

Given you have had the box for under a month, you should be able to take it back to Best Buy and exchange it for another. Tivo should also transfer over your account with no questions asked.
