I have a series 2. I upgraded it about 2-3 years ago from the original 40 gb hd to two 120 gb hds.

Recently my tivo has been freezing and it was the concensus that one or both of my drives were failing. It was recommended that I switch to a single 500gb drive so that is what I did.

I used the lba48 image file but after some difficulty I was told that I would not be able to preserve my recordings. Bummer but not the end of the world.

So I did the upgrade and installed the drive last night. I finished around 2:30 am (THANK YOU HOMEUSER FOR YOUR HELP ... YOU ARE A GOD!!!). I powered up and everything looked great (no recordings ... oh well)

SO HERE I AM

I got up this morning and found that my tivo is in a power up loop. The screen says it is "powering up ... please stand by". A few seconds later the machine reboots and it starts all over again.

Anybody know how I can fix this?

Did you use a swap file of at least 250, add the -r 4 switch to the mfsrestore command, and then ran tpip before disconnecting?

I used the -r 4 command. I don't know about the swap file or the other thing (I'm not that knowledgeable). The command I ussed was:

mfsbackup -f 9999 -so - /dev/hda /dev/hdb | mfsrestore -s 127 -r 4 -xzpi - /dev/hdc

When it completed I just typed in reboot, got to the boot prompt and powered down.
