Hello,

I have a series 2 tivo that i upgraded years ago by adding a 2nd hard drive.
think the first drive is 40 gig, and the added one is 120.

been hearing some clicking lately from the tivo, so i'm a bit worried about
hard drive failure.

was thinking of just replacing both drives with one 300 gig drive, or something close to that.

is it possible to go from two drives to one, while keeping all my shows?

i've done some reading of the forum, but haven't seen the answer to this.
just seen people saying...forget transferring the shows.

problem is, i have so many show's on my tivo that i'm not "caught" up on, i'd hate to get rid of them. of course, if my hard drives fail, i'll be out of luck anyway :)

so, is there a way to do this?

thanks

would the following do the trick?

hook up the 2 drives that are in my tivo now, plus my new 300 gig drive.

use the following command:

mfsbackup -Tao - /dev/hdX /dev/hdY | mfsrestore -s 127 -r 4 -xzpi - /dev/hdZ

thanks for any feedback

You don't need, or cannot have the -x in the restore, as the partitions on the B drive will take uo pthe expansion partition space.

And this will give you 160GB of useable space. In order to get the full 300GB, you will have to lose the shows.

ok, thanks for the bad news :)

so, if i just wanted to copy over my settings and season passes, would this work?

Planning on using weaknees_lba_boot_cd.iso

mfsbackup -f 9999 -so - /dev/hdX /dev/hdY | mfsrestore -s 127 -r 4 -zpi - /dev/hdZ

Yes, that will work and you will have the whole 300GB available.
