Question about buying Tivo direct from Tivo

Hi, I am new here and I hope its okay to ask this in this forum. I didnt know where else to put it.

Anyway, I noticed that when you buy Tivo from Tivo, they only charge you for the price of the plan that you choose, like if you choose the $20/month plan. My question is, is that all they charge you, or is there more to it? I do understand that you get charged every month of course, but it just seems way too good to be true, to be able to get Tivo for only $20.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Given how slow TiVo.com is getting orders out, how poorly managed the orders are (customer service reps can't even tell you if things shipped, can't give you tracking numbers, won't allow you to cancel orders, etc.), I would strongly advise you to purchase your TiVo unit elsewhere and avoid the headaches that TiVo.com purchases will bring.

Actually, I ordered a S2 DT on Wednesday and it will be here Monday (verified the tracking number with ups). So, the S3 is not affecting S2 orders at all.

Hardawre costs on the $16.65/mo 3 year plan and the $18.95/mo 2 year plan are $144.
Hardware cost on the $19.95 1 year plan is $84.

+ any hardware upgrade fees of course.

I ordered mine last Thursday (9/14) and have a tracking number from UPS for a Wed. delivery (9/20)

No complaints from me there with a 4-business day delivery.

I've ordered my last two tivos from tivo.com, and had great experiences both times. Both units showed up early, and my customer sservice experiences have been fine.

right now, there's a deal for an 80hrDT for $30 plus $12.95/month.

I had pretty quick turnaround (9/12, arr. 9/18). Only complaint is they didn't send the shipment notification email until 9/15. By then I had already called, and they gave me tracking number.

[B]Great post. I have the newbiest question of all! I haven't purchased a Tivo yet, as I am not sure it will work in my situation. BUT I am certain after researching tivo online, that this would be the best format to help me out..Thus far I have learned how you can use tivo, with sat dish, cable, outside roof antenna and even rabbit ears, NO laughing.. Downstairs in the living room is a sat dish receiver on that tele, my room mate has a receiver on his tele in his room on that tele, I hahaha have rabbit ears and get 3 stations. My question is what is the best approach for me, I do have a laptop and our connection is dsl and my laptop is wireless connection soooooo,,, should I set up the tivo on the tele downstairs to give me more viewing and recording options and have it sent to my laptop? Give me some suggestions I am willing to listen to anything. I am quite ill and for a while am stuck alot in my room and unfortunately it is the one with the least tele viewing capability. the three stations of cbs and nbc and abc are nice but I am dying to have more variety and that tivo could be my answer. Thanks to any who reply brandy
