I was planning on getting a DT for a gift and noticed overnight Circuit City added a $40 price drop. Makes it $59 after rebate. So if you're looking to buy a DT looks like they're the way to go! :)

Hmm I was planning on getting a gift subscription card - but I guess I could just pay for a few months on my card and then have the gift recipient change it to their card.

The gift subscriptions carry a 1 year commitment anyway, don't they?

i've rechecked the page several times, since i bought my dt in august, when someone is looking for a deal.

this time when i went to checkout it was still the same as when i bought mine in august.

when i went to checkout at the beginning of september it was different (the $7.00 per month discount was gone).

so it has changed back, for how long, i cannot say.

There have been even better deals than that; I got my Series2 DT for $155.40 with the one-year service agreement to upgrade my primary 40 hour ST model I had before that--so it was the equivalent of just consolidating a year's worth of service payments into one, then back to monthly.

Initially, there was a billing problem where my second MSD unit reverted back to $12.95, but I was able to get it set back to $6.95/month plus a credit of $6 from being overbilled. The unit might be refurbished, but I can't tell if it is; the word "refurbished" didn't show up anywhere, and the unit looks brand new and functions perfectly. Now I have my 40 hour ST just sitting in a closet.

Here's a thread on FatWallet that discusses the deal I got in on (or more accurately, rehashes the information from an older thread): http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.php?catid=18&threadid=646016 . Don't know if the deal is still active, though.

I still wonder how any of these deals would work for the purpose of giving the unit to someone as a gift...

Bummer, I'm only a Football fan.

Its $12.95/mo anyway, so not good for MSD eligibility.
