Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else, but I poked around with no luck.

I bought a refurbished Tivo that only displayed in Black & White. Called and got a replacement Tivo express shipped to me, and received the RMA information. Just fine.

My question is: Now what? I know I need to put a copy of the RMA in the box and write the number on the outside...but what then?

Will the mailman just take it?

Do I need to take it to FedEx or UPS?
If so, do I need to pay to ship it?
Or does the RMA magically take care of that like an E-Ticket?

Can I leave it by the side of the road and hope the Tivo RMA fairy will deliver it safely home?

This really seems like something I should already know how to do like using a checkbook or using public transit, but I just have no clue.

Thanks in advance.

Zac

Call TiVo Customer Service. They should be sending you a prepaid shipping label to return the TiVo unit to their repair service.

I called and my question was answered.

FYI:

I guess Tivo also mails a mailing label via US Postal Service to your house and you stick that on the box. According to the guy on the help line, "the label comes in a plain white envelope with no return address or anything on it, so a lot of people think it is junk mail and throw it away." They are sending another label to me in the mail.

After I get it, I need to take it to a UPS shipping place and they'll send it back for me.

Thanks.

I got the RMA in the mail (well, actually I got two of 'em on the same day, but, whatever) and now I need to take the box to a UPS center and they'll take it from there.

Thanks again.

OK so... last post: I have now received two UPS RMAs and one FedEx RMA from Tivo (for one defective machine).

When I was sent a defective DTV, I called and they quickly sent another one. When I asked about what to do with the defective one, they said, "I quess you can just keep it."
