In my attempt to spread the joy of TiVo to all members of my family I run across one who lives in a "wired" apartment building.

I'm fairly certain they receive their service by a coax that is converted from a shared set of satellites that other tenants also utilize. At one time they had what seemed to be a satellite box, but that is no longer the case - though their channels still show evidence of satellite service (they don't really know - just like their internet which comes through in-wall ethernet jacks).

I figure the feed coming in through coax could act just like regular cable and work with a dual tuner. Think there'd be any problems with this? What about things like the guide? Would it have problems retrieving the channel listings? Thanks :)

Lots of apartment buildings do this. To the TiVo, it looks like standard cable service with the satellite channels modulated onto cable. The only question is whether or not TiVo has a lineup for that building. First thing to do is enter their zip code at www.zap2it.com and see if any of the lineups match. (Don't select one of the satellite services.)

Great! I think I found exactly their provider and lineup (it even says the name of their apartments!). Thanks :)
