8820 one for all remote help needed

I programmed DVD 1996 on my 8820 remote for my SD-H400 and it seems to work. But I'm confused how to program thumbs up and down. What are good buttons to use as thumbs up/down? How can I program them? I don't have an original Tivo remote.

The advanced codes for Thumb commands are Down-00141, UP-00145. To enter them:

1. dvd
2. press and hold SET for two blinks
3. enter 9-9-4
4. tap SET for one blink
5. enter 5 digit advanced code,e.g. 00141
6. pick an unused key.


Use whatevers not being used via the preset code. prehaps CC & PREV keys?

Thanks for the info, I was able to get the thumbs buttons set. But I can't get the channel guide to come up. When I press the guide button the Tivo just makes a "bounce" sound. Does this button needs to be manually set?

Possibly? I don't have the SD-H400, the advanced code is 00163.
