This is the device that allows you to watch TV shows and movies purchased through iTunes on your TV.
As mentioned in a prior post, this is EXACTLY the space I've been wanting TiVo to get into since 1999! If TiVo was to do something like this it could ultimately move to a business model increasingly focused on TV/movie purchase/rental revenue.
I'm really hoping that TiVoCast being headed up by Stephen Mack is going to be competitive to this

Always proud to be an ex-Apple employee and share holder.
I'm not sure how it will be received but will be rooting for it. We tend to support the company a lot (we own lots of macs and iPods), but the one thing I never sprang for was the video iPod. For me, the screen is just too small. But this... sounds very cool.
The one thing that I'm assuming is that also supports my own DVDs, home movies, etc. If I can load them onto my Mac, then move them (easily and quickly) to my TV - man oh man - now THAT would be cool. As a matter of fact, if they support all the music, video and photo content I currently have on my mac, plus the stuff I purchase from iTunes, there is no doubt I'd buy it in an instant. As a matter of fact, it would be as exciting for me as the S3 has been to the masses here.

I'm a big fan of Apple as well (as I type on my g5 with 8GB of RAM, a 30" monitor + 20" monitor), but the stuff you can buy from the store are 640x480. Non-starter for me.
Peace.

Good point on iTunes movies. But I actually wasn't thinking of buying new movies as much as finding an easy way to get all the content to my TV. I guess I'm just thinking how cool it would be if I could store all my DVDs on my mac (the ones I already own) and be able to use this box to access them. I would also consider access to iPhoto (while I can see stills using Tivo, the slide shows don't work) and access to my iMovie content (where I have all my vacation video) a must.
It's so hard to say with Apple. Something like the iPod and the whole supporting infrastructure is so elegant, so easy to use - it just dominates. Hard to say where this will go.
