I got a SkyMall catalog through my CitiBank credit card that has Tivo 80Hr/Lifetime Svc: $699 and Tivo 40Hr/Lifetime Svc: $599. I didn't think that was an option anymore. The 80 Dual Tuner they list only comes with 3yrs of service for $629.

Are you able to scan a picture of the ad? I know sometimes companies allow select retailers to try out certain pricing plans to see how they'll go over, so it wouldn't surprise me if Skymall got permission from Tivo to do this, especially at those prices. The 80hr DT 3yr plan for 629 is just a silly offer trying to catch anyone that doesn't know any better.

The link just takes me to a search field on Skymall.com, and when I put in tivo the search doesn't bring up anything.

Not sure what to tell. Be sure to click it instead of cut and paste, because there is more to the link than what is shown in the post. It takes me to the 80hr lifetime Tivo. I entered Tivo in the search field and they were all displayed.

I get the same result as bpurcell.

don't feed the troll
Bubba doesn't look like a troll. It may be that since he has a membership with a login and such he may have access to other products.
We lay people may not be able to access them without the appropriate cookie.
I'm in bpurcells boat as far as the link goes and a search for TiVo pulls up nothing. They do offer two DVR's but they're not TiVo and appear to be 4 tuner and 8 tuner for $1k and $1.5k respectively. They call them 4-channel and 8-channel, but no brand or info on them. Don't recognize them.

Wow, I try to share a Tivo tidbit and get called a troll. A big FU back at ya.
There must be some cookie magic going on once in the site. Here is the root URL:

Search for Tivo and it lists them.

Sorry you were called a Troll. I am prone to throwing that around but had no thought you were. As you say the new link lets you search the whole site and there they are all right. Lifetime Single tuner TiVo DVRs.
too bad the DT is not in that category.
Thanks for sharing

Interesting. I wonder why they have LT ones for sale there? Very odd.
So a Series 3 with lifetime is right now $1600. ;)

Thanks for the updated link. And I definitely don't think you're a troll.
For the price, I think Tivo would have no problem with Skymall offering lifetime. It would be nice if Tivo gave this option on its site, say Lifetime for 549. Not many people would take it, but it would satisfy those few who would take it.

I guess the death of 'Tivo lifetime' has been greatly exaggerated.

The listing contradicts itself. It talks about Tivo lifetime, then the picture caption says Tivo with 3 years of Tivo service.
A head-scratcher there.

The lifetime/3yr sub isn't the only problem. It also states the model number as R54080-GSLT00 which is likely a refurb'd 540xxx but then it states that it has two tuners but not that you can record two programs at once.
TIVO 80 Hour DVR with Lifetime TIVO Service
Get all the entertainment you care about with the Tivo box and easy-to-use Tivo service. You can record, play, pause, rewind and slo-mo live TV. Never miss an episode again. You can store your favorite shows and then watch them back at your convenience.
The R54080-GSLT00 has a built-in 80 hour hard drive recorder so you have hours of hours of your favorite movies at a touch of a button.
This Tivo 80 Hour DVR has two built-in tuners so you can watch one show while you record another. And, it includes a three year subsription to Tivo.

The descriptions are clearly screwy. The SKUs and prices seem to agree, however:
Lifetimed 80hr 540 (apparently refurbed)
Sku: R54080-GSLT00
Price: $669.00
Lifetimed 40hr 540 (apparently refurbed)
Sku: R54040-GSLT00
Price: $599.00
Three-Year Subscription 80hr DT (apparently not refurbed) [description mentions lifetime and different model number, as mick66 points out]
Sku: TCD649080-3YR
Price: $629.00
Lifetimed Humax 40hr recorder (apparently not refurbed)
Sku: DRT400-GSLT00
Price: $879.00
I'd love to get some official comment on these from SkyMall and/or TiVo.

Either way, the prices are out of control.

On top of everything else thay are outdated Tivo's, not the DT S2. It looks like Tivo mayt be looking for a gimik to dump the ST S2's.
Clearly overpriced as are a lot of items in Skymall, but I really like looking at their catalog.

Well, the DT is in there - but only with 3 years, not lifetime. I'd say it looks like lifetime is valued at $599 giving the $669 price for an 80-hour S2 with lifetime. From the other bundles, etc, the included cost of the box is about $70.
That seems about right.
