First of all, thanks VERY much to those of you who have reviewed the Series 3 and helped the rest of us understand this new product.
I've got some questions about my Comcast equipment configuration after I install the Tivo Series 3 and would appreciate any help someone can give.
We subscribe to Standard Cable, Digital Classic and HD.
I now have two Comcast cable boxes. One is a General Instrument Digital Box that feeds through and is controlled by the Tivo and into a Fujitsu 50" plasma screen's S-Video input. This is the box we use 98% of the time since we now find it hard to watch TV without Tivo.
The second is an HD box by Motorola which we only use when we want to watch a program live in HD. This feeds the TV via another input. Neither box has a "card" though the Motorola box has a slot for one.
When I go to Comcast to get two "cable cards", I assume I will insert them both in the two slots on the back of the Series 3. Correct?
Does this mean that I can get rid of both cable boxes? (We have not used PPV yet and have no plans to.)
Thanks for any advice,
Rich
:)
PS I didn't put this question in the Comcast thread because I assume equipment configurations may be applicable across all cable vendors.
