Question about Remote and DVI Switch

I am thinking about getting an S3 but have a few questions first. Right now I have an HR10-250 and a Comcast Explorer 8000. I use comcast for the locals since D* won't give me waivers and I am to far for OTA. I would like to replace the Explorer with the new S3.

The first question is about the remote. Will my HR10-250 remote conflict with the S3 remote?

Second question is about an HDMI switch, right now I use the HR10-250 on HDMI and the Explorer with Component but I heard rumors of problems with some signals not being in real HD over component so I would really like to get a switch box to eliminate that possibility. Does anyone know of a good inexpensive hdmi switcher?

The first question is about the remote. Will my HR10-250 remote conflict with the S3 remote?TiVo gives you 10 different remote 'channels', and I think the DirecTiVo does too, so you can de-conflict them.
