View Full Version : Time Warner Cable won't supply Cable Cards for TiVo box

I was seriously thinking about purchasing a new TiVo Series 3 HD box, like tonight. I called Time Warner Cable here in Milwaukee to see about the programming and the cost, what I was flat out told was that they would not provide me with the Cable Cards, they only would supply Cable Cards for TV's. They said they had their own DVR and therefore would not supply Cable Cards for a TiVo box.

Now I thought the FCC stated that the cable companies had to supply Cable cards to customers that want them. Isn't this a restriction of free trade? Ergo, I won't but a Series 3 HD TiVo box because Time Warner Cable won't allow me to use it on their system. That's shutting TiVo out, that to me is unfair.

I really hope this is not true, that they can't do that.

Thanks, I didn't think that was covered in there, and that is pretty far in.
