I would like to transfer the recordings from my Philips DVR to another Philips DVR, both units are DSR704, can I just connect S-Video cable and the red/white cables from output to the input and use the save to VCR function to transfer the recordings? or do I have to hack both units in order to do the transfer? thanks

Check again -- your DSR704 doesn't have an S-Video input. DirecTivos can only record satellite. You'll need to hack.
