Do I need a cablecard for the TV on top of the two for the S3?
Thanks.

No, you only need 2 cable cards for the S3. Even though you may have a slot on your TV, it is not neccessary to install a card there as long as you have the 2 cards installed in the S3.

Just to clarify, you COULD install it there if you wanted to though, and use your sets internal tuner to watch stuff while the tivo was doing other things. This would give you the option of recording on both tuners on the tivo AND watching a third program on the set at the same time.

I can't imagine a scenario where this would matter, but I just wanted to clarify anyway.

Thursday Nights at 8PM would be a good example. I will probably routinely record 2 shows on teh network but also want to watch a football game on ESPNHD.

Oh that would be bad, I couldn't imagine watching a football game in real time. The commercials are unbearable!

There should be a law that says if the game clock ticks off less then 10 seconds since the last commercial they can not go to commercial (save for injury time outs).

But I'm glad you're able to posit a scenario in which the extra cable card actually made sense.
