anyone having issues with CV not renting cable cards to them for the new S3?

I was on the phone for close to an hour and three reps one "manager" and they will not rent me cards unless they go into either a CV box or directly into a TV. They said its a tivo issue and to call tivo to reurn the unit and to rent a dvr from cablevision???

I don't have a S3 yet -- but I hope to have it by the end of the week

thanks in advance,
John

Give them the model number and they can look it up and see its approved. Or call TiVo customer support and they will help you talk with your local cable office.

My understanding (I'm not playing close attention to this matter) is that it's against FCC regs for them to refuse to put the cards into the S3.

Call Tivo and let them know. Tivo has said they will work with people who are having trouble getting CableCards.

rent a dvr from cablevision???There's your answer.

I'm no expert, but from everything I have heard/read/understand about how this is supposed to work, they cannot do this. I would raise all manner of hell until you get what you want, because I believe they legally have to.

Cablevision csr's dont know everything.

I called yesterday inquiring about the "professional cablecard" install and told the lady it was for a tivo series 3.... she didn't have any qualms about it.

I didn't schedule an appointment yet as I don't have a series3 (not probably till november-ish) but I didn't get any talkback about it.

Be sure to complain to the FCC, even if you get it resolved before it comes to that. They need to levy some fines.

S3 is on the way, and I have a CV install scheduled on Monday in CT. Just call back and get another operator. There are several different call centers.

Just be sure to mention it is an install for multiple cards. I told them it was for a 'recorder', the operator could not have cared less.

The installer, in the end, will make the decision to install / not install. The units are packed with easy-to-read installer instructions that should clear up any confusion.

Hmmmm. I've had a Cablevision cablecard in my Sony HD PVR for over a year now.

I live in Westchester, NY and am a Cablevision sub. I called and scheduled an install for Sunday. I told them I needed 2 cablecards, and they asked what it was for. I told them. They said nothing other than the scheduled time for the install (between 11am and 2pm).

I should have my S3 by Friday if the 1 day shipping gods are nice!

Same here... Cablevision of Westchester (White Plains, NY) and they're coming next Saturday with the 2 cable-cards.

they DID say they couldn't guarantee they would actually work as they "haven't tested it yet" but I'm not worried.
