Wow! I'm a Tivo fan too, but to hear all of you guys defending (actually gushing over) Tivo after they drop a price like $799 on us is insulting.

I've been holding out for the Series 3 for a long time. Never in my wildest dreams would I think the price would be higher than a PS3 and a Wii combined! Plus a subscription!

I don't care if you are the biggest Tivo brown-noser in the universe. If you are willing to pay $799 for this box then you'll probably be willing to *give* me $799 so that I can buy one too.

I was actually holding off buying a big screen t.v. because I was waiting for this freakin' Tivo Series 3 that would be the dream DVR to have combined with a brand new 1080p t.v.!

I'll wait another year for the Tivo Series 3; but I'm ready for my t.v. now. And my PS3 now. And my Wii now.

That not even a fair comparison..

Last time I checked, the PS3 and the Wii (and throw in the XBOX360), can't record 1 (let alone 2), digital encryped video programs from your local Cable-Co.

And at the same time playback a third.

About the only thing they have in common, is that they can output in HD.

I mean the HR10-250 (the first TiVo powered unit that could do HD), was $1,000

I still think $800 is a bit high.....

You are in your right to preffer your gaming system, but there are others that have been waiting multiple years to record in HD... so to them, this is worth the premium price.

My order is placed, but you'll have to buy your own.

I'd rather pay $800 for a TiVo than $600 for a PS3.

Price will land $500-600 on eBay once these are released - just wait.

$800 is way too much even though it is a 300 hour recorder. They should come out with another package with a much lower price.

Good luck getting the PS3 for anywhere close to the $599 price. Every retailer I've asked has said they expect their bundle -- the only way they will sell the PS3 -- to run closer to $800.

But it costs only 1/100 of what a 2007 Jaguar XK costs.

But no, I'm not giving you the money for one. ;-)
