Sorry If I am asking a question that has been asked a million times but I am in desparate need of some help here. I went out bought a new DVD Recorder today to save my archived shows and when I tried setting it up, I got nowhere in a hurry. I purchased the Philips DVDR3400 and from the word go it is a nightmare. I am going to return that and go with the Panasonic DMR-ES15S model, from all acounts its simpler to set up and navigate.
BOTTOMLINE: Can someone please give me instructions on the proper wiring (input/output of cables, etc.) for hooking up a S2 TiVo to a DVDR...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well it's "out" from the Tivo to "In" on the DVDR.
S-video will give you the best picture, but that doesn't carry sound. You'll need a stereo cable with RCA connectors for the sound. Those are round jacks on the devices, usually one red and one white. So that's one Svideo cable and one stereo RCA cable.
Or you could use composite for the picture - that's another RCA cable, usually with yellow ends. You'll still need the red and white cable mentioned above to get sound across. So that'd be three RCA connectors on each end. They make AV cables with these connectors.
Does that help?

The real issue is that I am not able to get a screen devoted the DVDR for the set up it need and for finalizing disks and such. The set up I have now is a split coaxial cable into the TiVo box and TV, A/V cables running from the TiVo the TV and A/V cables running from the DVDR to the Tivo, appropriate input/output settings. Still cannot figure out what I am missing here, there seems to be a very simple step I am missing so I can have a screen or output if you like when I need to finalize my disks. Confused, you bethca.

You need to hook the output of the DVD recorder to either a seperate input on the TV, or another TV,
just like you would hook it up to watch a DVD on it.
