I've patiently waited for the S3 now it's out. Finally.

I've also patiently saved my Lifetime Subscription giftcard to apply to the S3.

Can someone tell me teh proper/best procedure to get this card applied to a new S3?

I'd prefer to get the S3 from Weakknees, or Tivo to avoid local sales tax. At almost 10% of $799, it's significant. But CC is OK, too, particularly if it's easier.

Thanks for any pointers/help.

In order for you to use a giftcard you'll have to buy the TiVo retail, as all the units on TiVo.com have some sort of service tied to them. Online retailers like Amazon.com and Buy.com should have them in stock next week (hopefully) so that will probably be your best bet.

After that all you have to do is call TiVo's activation line and tell them you want to apply the giftcard. (unfortunately there is no way to do it online)

or Tivo to avoid local sales tax.

One of these threads today was saying Tivo was charging sales tax for delivery to certain states.

Glad I live in Delaware. ;)

Yeah, like CA - $62ish of tax on my S3 lifetime transfer order :( Damn CA Franchise Tax Board (or whatever the division that does sales tax is called).

It looks like the S3 can be purchased without the contract at www.tivo.com/vip.

I ordered mine from CC. Until the 30th you can get 10% off if you navigaate to CC from an affiliate site. So that $80 off offset the sales tax. On it's way... Can't wait to get rid of Comcast box. I think I'll give it a good kick before I return it just to make me feel better :)
