This is directly from FAQ on tivo.com:

Does the Series3 HD DVR work with satellite programming?
No. Series3 HD box provides access to HD Digital Cable, analog cable and ATSC over-the-air signals. Satellite programming is not supported.

Well, my question is can I still have a satellite for my SD programs, and a OTA antenna for HD? When Tivo says "satellite programming is not supported", do they mean there is going to be no programming guide for the satellite source? Will S3 have the capability to control a satellite box at all?

Also, I noticed the lack of composite input from the back panel picture. That is what I am using on my S2 for satellite signals.

The S3 does not work with satellite at all.

What an incredibly stupid decision. I love my Series2 and it works perfectly with my Dish Network receiver. How much trouble would it have been to include a component or HDMI input to support satellite. A very poor business decision to exclude a significant portion of the TIVO fan base.

This has been discussed to death in numerous other threads over the past few months. Poke around in the CoffeHouse where all the S3 discussions took place until this new S3 forum opened up.

No, no they could NOT have included component or HDMI input. This has been discussed TO DEATH in the past. It just doesn't work that way. Please search for one of the dozens of old threads where this is all explained.

well, i don't need HD from satellite. I need SD from satellite. I refuse to buy cable service from Time Warner.

Why can't they keep the S2 way of handling satellite?
