I was wondering if anyone has done this or if it can be done. I have a Tivo S2 Humax running on my network, I recently got a Comcast DVR for HDTV (motorola) and was wondering if the comcast box can be put on the network to communicate with the Tivo. The comcast box does not have a dvd burner in it, where as the Tivo unit has.
Any thoughts or Ideas?
Thanks
Michael

That sure would be nice, but no, I'm pretty sure that's not possible. You can, allegedly, connect the Motorola to another device (like a computer) via Firewire, but not a TiVo.

I'm sure each company would rather you do business only with them, rather than spreading your money across both companies.

If you have the Motorola DVR, firewire transfers to a PC work for nonprotected content. The Motorla site has a link to the means, which are not officially supported. I don't think the ethernet or USB ports are supported.

I noticed the ethernet connector on my Comcast Motorola HD DVR when the tech set it up. I asked if that meant I could hook it up to my network. He said it's not network capable. I tried it any way and it wasn't recognized. I never pursued it any further. Maybe it's time to.
