From the S3 FAQ on Tivo's site, it seems that we will be unable to stream music as on the S2. I just wonder why this would have been cut out - is this any different than other freestanding media server hardware? If Tivo is concerned about copyright issues, then just disable the music copying in the TiVo to go softwarwe
"Will Online Scheduling and TiVo's advanced broadband features (those found under "Music, Photos, Products, & More") work with the TiVo Series3 box?
Online Scheduling and other TiVo broadband features, including games, Yahoo! weather & traffic and photos are available on the Series3 HD box."
Note no mention of music. Somehow I doubt this is a typo.

Somehow I think it is. It makes no sense to take out the music-player functionality.

I thought Dave Zatz review said the music worked.

Not only are music and photos there, I've been informed later this year higher def photos will be supported (whatever that means).

Well..I wouldn't use the term "of course" to say anything about the S3 right now. The lack of Tivo2Go and Goback, I thought were "of courses", with the only variable being whether it allowed avi transfers.
"Of course" I was wrong

Of course S3 supports music.
Perhaps the FAQ answer should explicitly say so. It confused me too.

At what resolution are photos sent to the TV in the current release?

What it means is that you can view your digital photos in HD resolutions. My XBOX 360 can do that and it is pretty awesome to view my digital photos in HD on my 60" Sony SXRD HDTV. It's great for showing friends and family my photography. I assume at the moment the S3 can only show digital photos in SD resolution (640x480). Odd that the S3 didn't have this right out of the box.

I use my intel Mac Mini w/Front Row for photos, music. Absolutely awesome. Not the cheapest solution, but very cool. Even setup my Logitech Harmony remote to work with it instead of the little apple remote that my cats try to eat
