View Full Version : Shows Missing from search on hacked Tivo

I have a couple of HD Tivos (HR10-250 3.1.5f software). Both have been upgraded to a pair of drives - one has had the TivoWebPlus 1.2.1 and Hackman installed on it - the other has not.

The non-hacked Tivo "phones home" via a serial cable and PPP on an XP PC. The hacked PC has the hack to prevent it from phoning and making the box thinks it just phoned in OK "last night".

When I search for a show by name on the hacked Tivo a lot of shows are missing. Do the same search on the non-Hacked Tivo and they show up fine. I checked and the channels I received are set the same. When I search from inside TivoWeb they do not show up either. If I browse by channel or use the guide I can find the shows - but not on the search.

Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

The time on this box has drifted off as well.

I am not really using any of hacks, I just installed them while I had the drives out doing the upgrade.

I tried having the hacked box phone in, but I guess I have it blocked via hack.

How can I un-do this so I can call in to sync the clock and maybe fix my search problem?

Thanks,
Dennis

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,

I've never heard of such a thing before, but then again, non of my boxes are stock. DTiVo units get their guide data via the satellite signal, so for the guide data to vary would have to be something more insidious. Some simple questions might help.

What shows are missing when you do a search?

Have you cross-referenced shows that appear missing against channel lists?

Do the missing shows all belong to a given channel?

Are the missing shows always x days in the future? Or do range from now till 14 days in the future?

Does a missing show appear intermittently?

Does a show missing from your hacked unit's search show up in the LiveTV Guide?

Does each box report the same amount of APG data?

Answers to these might shed light on what is causing the discrepancy.

DirecTivo's get all their guide data over the satellite. I've seen the problem you described happen 2 or 3 times over the years - and it was always resolved by restarting the DirecTivo (unplugging the power cord).
