I recall reading the Series 3 will support CableCard 2 for dual tuner, but reading the TiVo site, it only mentions 1 and says 2 cards are required for dual tuner recording.

Am I just imagining, or was this taken out?

Series 3 will support a single multistream card for dual tuners. (Note that this is NOT the same thing as CableCARD 2.0.)

(Also note, there is a new forum (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=51) for discussing the Series 3!)

Multistream cards won't be available from major cable companies until late October or early November. Until then, you'll need two CableCards two record two encrypted digital cable channels (like HBO) at the same time.

You do not need CableCards to record two programs from analog cable or off-air from an antenna.

One of the things seriously turning me off from buying a Series 3 is the lack of Cable Card 2.0 support. Now, that's not Tivo's fault, since the 2.0 standard hasn't been finished. But I simply can't see buying a $800 box that won't be fully featured in a couple of years.

$200? Sure. $400? Maybe. $800? Forget it.

Well hopefully it will be down in the $200-$400 range by the time D* shuts off mpeg2 for my HR10-250. I won't even think about it at $800 either....
